How much would you have to save to live in New York City, New York [I New York]

One of my cousins and I were thinking about living in New York but after hearing about how much apartments cost I think we’re having second thoughts. One small apartment costs $2000 A month in rent. Are you crazy?! I guess it depends where in New York do you live in for thing about living in New York City but we were considering. It may be cold but New York is beautiful and we’re not gonna live in the same place forever. We might just stay where we are. People must be making hella money over there like that I mean New York is pretty exclusive and people get paid really good over there. I guess it depends on the job.

I watched a video where this guy got cheap rent about $385 for a tiny apartment, not even a bathroom inside of it, uses a shared bathroom down the hall, it was smaller than my bedroom. He is a writer and plans on saving his money up and living like this a few years. Another woman also made a video of her life in a tiny apartment but apparently they would prefer this type of living arrangement than getting a roommate and paying more $ for a little big bigger space.
if you have a car don't forget it's going to cost a small fortune to park it too

@saragoodtimes Or you will be circling block after block to find a space that is not restricted on that day/hour.
@CompTrain82 if you park it on the street you're going to have to pay someone to protect it or come back and find it stripped

Meet these two Fucks who enjoy destroying New York.

This is Governor Cuomo and Nazi Covid Guide leader Mayor De Blasio.

These two fvckers close down small Businesses. Bought close down properties to raise higher property Taxes. Rent went up. Crime Rate and Homeless increased out in the streets.

If I was you I would wait.....wait for a long time

@FreestyleArt nasty men who deserve to live in a hell of their own creation.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti He should be spending time with all the dead bodies inside the Nursing Home. forever

Since no bail NY, COVID19 restrictions and deblasio emptying the jails, NYC is dead. There are more random shootings and muggings. Shootings up 97%. There is now a rash of psychotics dragging people off train platforms and tossing them into the tracks. It is extremely expensive to live there and most of the small restaurants and stores are gone forever. I’m trying to get out of here.

If you still want to move, make sure you know which areas to avoid. I’m as far East as you can get in Queens, but I have a car and no longer work in Manhattan.

By the way I don’t make a lot of money. I have 3 jobs so I can live here.

@CompTrain82 Damn for real?! 🙄🙄
No I’m really glad my cousin and I are we considering. Probably not going to move there right now. I mean we don’t know what the future holds but we’re reconsidering.
CompTrain82 · 41-45, M
@PetiteJulie01 For real. I never ever thought I would want to leave NYC (born here), but now I can’t wait to leave. Also, having a kid, I don’t see future for her here.

The further you go from manhattan the less an apartment costs (as a general rule). With the pandemic rent has gone down in a lot of neighborhoods in Manhattan too. But it is expensive to live here.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@summersong DAMN?! You call THAT cheaper? Oh you said Manhattan cost that much. You said if we went away for Manhattan is cheaper. Ok. Sorry I didn’t read right. Well there’s no way I’m living in Manhattan.
summersong · F
@PetiteJulie01 I live in an expensive neighborhood. I just managed to find a rent-stabilized apartment so I don’t pay full market price
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@summersong ooh okay. My best friend doesn’t wanna live in New York because it’s too expensive but I keep telling her it’s beautiful over there and I’ve seen pictures and she’s not gonna work at the same job or live in the same place forever. I know I can’t make her buy total change is good and get out of her comfort zone. It’s time to move out of mommy and daddy‘s house.

I wouldn’t be caught dead there
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@TexChik Why not?
StraCat · 41-45, M
I wouldn't recommend it. Most people live in New Jersey our out of the city and commute in. More for your money that way.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@StraCat Is New Jersey cheaper?
StraCat · 41-45, M
@PetiteJulie01 Much cheaper but I see the prices going up like what happened to the borroughs. Ya know, gentrification and stuff. Get in while you can lol.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@StraCat okay

It’s not just the high cost of living. That city is filthy. I visited once because it’s not that far and you know..THE BIG APPLE!! So I wanted to see it for myself
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@SW-User Oh really? Wow
Konicha605 · 22-25, F
i have no idea, but since it's a big city and i ve been there i think it's pretty much up to u to find the right place to buy things, ecc. but in general everything there was quite expensive

For that money, you can rent an 800 sq foot townhouse in Woodhaven, and get a third roommate for the third bedroom to help defray some of the cost.
