"Anti-WOKE" Florida teaching standards update:

It talks about “how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit” from being slaves. Like when a basketball announcer that is immediately forced to retire says that slavery is basically a free gym membership so now white dudes get dunked on.

Also, it will teach about violence that was “against and by” black people. So, ya know, black people hurt each other too, so how was it that bad for a slave owner to do it? Like when racists crow about how black people hurting black people nowadays invalidates the racial motivations behind some white people doing so.

All hidden behind a veneer of not wanting to teach white kids to "feel guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress”. Like how many minority children feel every single day of their lives because of white people.

Good job, Florida, you shit hole.

When you start to rewrite history, you know things are bad.

By the same measure i guess Hiroshima should be grateful for the opportunity at so much urban renewal

@LvChris thanks...a lot of that makes sense... Education would seem to be the answer, it also seems to be what they fear

@Convivial They used to be proud of this history, that’s the funny thing. So the South in particular has gone though periods of

Keep America White !
That was a shameful time in our history…
Make America Great Again !
No "Woke” History ! Things weren’t that bad !

Read this earlier. So extraordinarily twisted. And it's coming from the extremists who yell about indoctrinating children. Yep. Shit hole. That's it.

@LvChris There you go. "Protect the children." I've taken a spin around some of the sites of the big churches and how they approach educating/indoctrinating kids is SO messed up. They insulate these kids. You can see it becomes their whole lives. They don't know any different. Makes me sad and really angry at the same time.
@Ynotisay
"Protect the children."
And yet they turn a blind eye to this $5 billion per year girl grooming industry that's hugely popular in red states.

@ElwoodBlues Makes me shiver. Totally weird. Something similar exists in the UK now: https://www.internationaljuniormissuk.com/2020-uk-finals-gallery. But they don't seem to be so sexualised thank goodness.
Wow…I figured that when the South began legally censoring the U.S. history that was to be taught (because they feared whites looking like "the bad guys"), it wouldn’t be long before a revisionist mythology would appear.

And here we are.

@bijouxbroussard yep... George Orwell was ahead of his times

Who lives in FL that's actually ok with this? I thought it was a retirement mecca for the east coast.

@LvChris so many people from NY and Pennsylvania, Jersey, retire down there. You'd think they'd be a different voting block. The single issue voters are definitely not helping.

It sucks because I have always wanted to go as a tourist. It's a beautiful place ruined by hoomans!
It's the right of the powerful to educate the weak.

If they really cared about kids they would stop trafficking them. Since when do they care about not making people feel bad. They cause psychological distress every minute.
