Thanksgiving is a very US thing and seems directly connected to God culture

So if you are not a god person why would you care about it?
SW-User
Actually Thanksgiving is not tied to God at all. And Canada also has Thanksgiving. Just not on the same date. I'm unsure if any other countries do.

@SW-User The Google machine says: Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Liberia and Costa Rica.

I get two days off for the holiday. Can you think of a reason not to enjoy a four day weekend ?
Who needs god for that ?

Like all shallow commercialism, aspects of Thanksgiving holiday are heavily played upon by the socially controlling overbearing Church. Same is true of Christmas, Labor Day, etc.. do what makes you feel good and avoid those that try to control you, every day.

@BackyardShaman Labor Day?
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
@LordShadowfire would be extreme😂 make you feel guilty if you don’t spend your day off holiday in Bible study.

@BackyardShaman Easter too - it and christmas are the worst examples of christian monetisation of cult beliefs.

TG is a really secular holiday. It's our autumn high feast day ritual. Historically related to first contact with the indigenous people of N. America. The traditional TG foods are all native to North America.

I find this premise somewhat suspect but regardless...one can be thankful, grateful and feel blessed without believing in any sort of god creature.

Tradition, I guess.
