I don't hate the Bible or religious stuff. I dislike being told - without evidence - that a 2000 year old book overrides astrophysics, evolution, and the geological age of the Earth.
Just like I dislike being told the Earth is flat.

If the Earth is flat how do you explain sunrise and sunset?
It is, though. Have you seen the curve?

No, not really. I could set down and write a bunch of vague predictions in artistic style. And hundreds of years from now, people could interpret my writings to coincide with events that they are witnessing.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@TheSentinel And lo, in the city of New York, someone will be mugged, and in Los Angeles, there shall be an earthquake. These are the signs of the return of Sausage Fingers!

@LordShadowfire what about the McRib?!

There was once a time and place when people looked at the New Testament through whatever eyes they had. Secular or religious. Thus the Jefferson Bible. Thomas Jefferson’s retelling the life and ministry of Christ without spooky bits. In the faith of my birth, this was sort of a thing. Not everyone’s gonna be a real believer, so let’s at least try to be a decent person.
These days, some of the stuff I hear. Yea. Damn. Find some Jesus. Or do some Zen meditation. Or whatever.

Yes, some parts anyway. I don't see the slightest sign of an omnipresent, omnibenevolent and omnipotent god, but a lot of the world's problems could be solved if people were a little kinder and less judgmental.
Fishy · 36-40, F
@NerdyPotato I hear you, but do you ever wonder how a book that's like... more than 2000 years old could be pointing to something that's happening in the present... and also be kinda accurate about it too?
I dunno, it kinda blows my mind a bit 😬

@Fishy It's interesting indeed, but I think it's also confirmation bias for a large part. It's not very specific about the timing and most things mentioned are from all times. It was going to happen in the predicted order shortly after another sooner or later.

If the story had mentioned things like railroads, airplanes, cars, bicycles, telephones, microwave ovens, clocks, equal rights, etc., you might have had a point.

I've been mulling this question over a lot recently, and the Bible was definitely onto something. It becomes more clear as I look to get into a relationship and marriage. This one verse speaks to me a lot from Deuteronomy
But if it turns out that the accusation is true and there is no evidence of the girl's virginity, the men of the town are to take her to the door of her father's house and stone her to death.

The Bible we have today, is not the true scriptures wtitten by the profits or the deciples. The scriptures we have today were written by men with ill intentions to deceive the world, hence the coincidence of prophecy comming true.
This not to deny the existence of God. God is real, he has scriptures for us to read and learn from, but those words have been hidden by men who don't want us to know the real God.

What is your version of the real God?

OK, so what does your God do that's different from all of the others?
Well, it's not my version, but the God i feel and hear in my heart.

I agree that the part about the God creature and the Jesus lich and the Jews being special is non-sense but, overall, it is a wonderfully written book that has countless layers. I think the story tellers did an amazing job. If you focus more on the secular parts you may see that it does contain some timeless advice that is useful in everyday living.
The books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Wisdom & Sirach are worth reading. They are light on the God stuff.
For instance, the best advice you can ever give a child is found in Proverbs 1:8-19 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=proverbs+1%3A8-19&version=CEV
IMO, that advice is universal and timeless and well worth teaching it to children.

No I never think that.

I'm constantly recommending on YouTube from super religious Christian channels and the main thing they talk about is "the end of days", Rapture, mark of the beast. Only a few prophecies came true and I don't know we'll have to see what happens.
In the end of times man will come to love themselves and the Bible speaks in riddles so idk what the hell is going on.
