Abraham Lincolns quote "I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated in

[big]THE HOLY BIBLE!" [/big]
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Carazaa When you really think about it, the idea of Jesus as a sacrifice for man's sins is contrary to the Old Testament doctrine, which never missed an opportunity to engage in animal sacrifices. However, human sacrifices were taboo although it was required to kill people for certain transgressions.

Human sacrifices were associated with the pagan Gods, such as Molech.

Human sacrifice was especially condemned as a pagan ritual in 2 Kings 16:1-4 (CEV) = "16 Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah in the seventeenth year of Pekah's rule in Israel. 2 He was 20 years old at the time, and he ruled from Jerusalem for 16 years.

Ahaz wasn't like his ancestor David. Instead, he disobeyed the Lord 3 and was even more sinful than the kings of Israel. He sacrificed his own son, which was a disgusting custom of the nations that the Lord had forced out of Israel. 4 Ahaz offered sacrifices at the local shrines, as well as on every hill and in the shade of large trees."

Leviticus 18:21 (CEV) ="Don't sacrifice your children on the altar fires to the god Molech. I am the Lord your God, and that would disgrace me."

Leviticus 20:2 (CEV) ="to say to the community of Israel: Death by stoning is the penalty for any citizens or foreigners in the country who sacrifice their children to the god Molech."

Do you recall the passages where Jesus did these things?

Isaiah 57:9 (CEV) ="You smear on olive oil and all kinds of perfume to worship the god Molech. You even seek advice from spirits of the dead."

So, when you compare and contrast the pagan practices described in the Old Testament with the actions and crucifixion of Jesus you should be able to see similarities, which makes the crucifixion a pagan ritual to a pagan God.

@hippyjoe1955 So, is it a historical fact that a million man army marched from Sudan to within about forty miles of Jerusalem where they were all slaughtered?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 So far your batting average is .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000001. You never have anything.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes Wow you truly are getting desperate? If you think the crucifixion of Jesus was like the worship of Moloch you have severe mental illness. Jesus wasn't killed by the crucifixion. He 'gave up the ghost' by His volition. You do need a few lessons on the death of Jesus. Then you need to do a bit of study on the worship of Moloch. The sacrifices to moloch were never for the forgiveness of sin. The sacrifices to moloch were to curry favor with the god to ensure wealth and good fortune. The modern day abortion is sacrificing to moloch when it is done for the woman's or husband's financial or social benefit.

@Carazaa You do realise the Protestant Church in England was brought about by Henry V111 who wanted a marriage annulment that the Pope refused. This only happened in the fifteen hundreds. The Reformation only began in 1517. So before then are you saying the Bible contained books you didn't believe in. Pretty Sure the Catholics and Orthodox Churchs were praying to the same God as a Trinity.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes Your choice to follow non history is the biggest error here. Sad that you choose to believe as you do which is contrary to all the evidence out there. You and your silly discredited website. Now that is FUNNY!
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I'm still waiting for you to produce a legitimate, authentic, original version of the Bible written in Greek before 680 A.D. I will give you until next Sunday night, roughly 168 hours or so, to provide it. If you don't then I will mute you.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes I am waiting for you to provide and original version of the Iliad. You have failed in your quest therefore the Iliad was not written in ancient Greece and because it is in book form..... and in English...... And uses modern words and letters..... Do you realize just how foolish you sound? Seriously. Do you realize how foolish your talking points are? Oh and while you are at it find me the original text of Beowulf, Canterbury Tales, How about all the works of Shakespeare?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
With all due respect. The greatest gift ever given is Jesus Christ and Him alone. The Bible is a wonderful book but without Christ it is meaningless. Without the Holy Spirit we can't even understand it. The Bible is a wonderful gift but it does not compare to the Greatest Gift - Jesus Christ and the Grace He grants us.
Carazaa · F
@Diotrephes

You can think whatever about God, but it doesn't change the truth. But God says we die if we sin so that is your future, have fun.

I choose to repent and turn from my sin and go to heaven and have communion with God now, so he hears my prayers, I need him.

I hope it will be worth it for you because our lives are short and you might need him, and you might regret it one day when it's too late.

Also you are abusive to God. He has feelings. I will delete the comment that is abusive.
@Carazaa
But God says we die if we sin
It also says that we all sin. And that we are acquitted when we die. (Romans 3:23; 6:7)
Carazaa · F
@AkioTsukino If you continue reading after that verse it says for both Jews and gentiles... 👇

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

A collection of books surely, not just one.
Most Protestant Bibles have 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. The Roman Catholic Bible has 73 books including the seven known as the Apocrypha
That's a sensitive post given that there are users here who aren't Christian and who will have the same thing to say about their religious texts.

I anticipate some not so pleasant comments down here. Or pure silence.
SW-User
@AkioTsukino I think it's best not to engage in conversations with religious fanatics. And i highly doubt that you have read on a the religions.
SW-User
@Carazaa At least my culture tells me to respect people regardless of the differences. Read my comments again and you will know there was nothing rude about it. I thought u were a nice person but you are an extremist I would distance from.
Carazaa · F
@SW-User I am a born again Christian. I am not catholic, I just read God's word The Holy Bible. God put his truth in my heart, and I live for Jesus, not this world.
Satan has deceived the entire world to believe a lie, so be careful! God blesses those who trust in Him. I am here to share the truth because I want people to go to heaven.

When you step into a thread where the religious folk are arguing about something and nothing.
Nope.
Carazaa · F
@GeniUs When God puts the Holy Spirit in our heart we know truth from a lie spiritually.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@Carazaa When you believe in something that doesn't exist and justify anything you want by saying man who doesn't exist wants it.
Carazaa · F
@GeniUs I know God so I know he exists. Some know God some don't! It has to do with repenting and turning from our sin, and wanting to know God more than pleasing self!
usher · 41-45, F
I think it is too. But I read the bible as metephors and with symbolic meanings. I believe in God, Jesus etc as I am a Christian, but I tend to hear his voice differently
Carazaa · F
@CorvusBlackthorne This is Abrahams witness about the Bible. He proves himself to you every morning at sunrise.
specman · 51-55, M
@Carazaa in the Bible it says you have to believe that Jesus is the son of God or you won’t go to heaven. It says nothing about believing anything else. Although I happen to. But the only thing you must do to get to heaven is to believe Jesus Christ is the son of God
Carazaa · F
@specman Yes having faith in Jesus is the key. You must be born again, by the Holy Spirit. God does the work, but how we act is the fruit that is evident if we are following Jesus, if we believe, or have another gospel.

Many people believe that going to church or saying hail Mary's or some thing or some action will be pleasing to God, but it is God who does the work not us. We can think we are ok, but we can be deceived. We can't earn heaven.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
I find books by Lee Child much better...
Carazaa · F
@Unlearn It does not tell us the ending of the world according to God himself.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@Carazaa You have been brainwashed. At least, you can keep your sickness to yourself...
Carazaa · F
@Unlearn God saved me. He changed my heart from stone and the Holy Spirit entered and I have love for you and others. I see truth, I see God as Holy and me as sinful. I know God, he speaks to my heart, he hears my prayers, and he answers them.

He died for our sins, and he is preparing a place for us in heaven. He is coming back very soon (the year 2023 or sooner probably, we don't know the day or the hour) to judge the living and the dead.

He wasn’t a Christian or religious at all. Though he was a politician, hence your quote.

@JohnRing Christians feel very bad when they sin.
JohnRing · 56-60, M
@Carazaa oh I’m sure they do. Not trying to diminish your faith in any way. I think a Lincoln’s probably not the best example of a religious President.

@LordShadowfire He was successful because he lived by the Bible! God promises to make us successful in everything when we trust in him! Joshuah 1:8
specman · 51-55, M
@Carazaa no the Bible says it will rain and shine on the good and bad.
Carazaa · F
@specman God is good to everyone! You are correct, but he does not give success to everyone.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
So then why was he opposed to slavery?

Exodus 21:2-11, Leviticus 25:44-46, Ephesians 6:5-9, Colossians 3:22 and 4:1, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Titus 2:9-10, and 1 Peter 2:18-20 were just a joke to him, I guess.
Carazaa · F
@LordShadowfire The Bible illustrates we are all slaves to sin!

Carazaa · F
@Baremine I am not sure what you are asking. I don't agree that I should change Abraham Lincolns quote.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Carazaa looking back I believe what I was debating was the difference between spiritual eyes and the Holy Spirit. Not a point to hatefully argue about. I just feel that the Holy Spirit is our spiritual eyes and it is He that clarifies the Bible. You make a lot of good solid points which I support. I am on your side.

@Carazaa God can handle it. God judges, not you. Let him speak. Even if he is an idiot and a blasphemer. It's in God's hands.
Carazaa · F
@AkioTsukino Absolutely not! I will not have abuse on my post. I will delete it. If someone says hurtful things about my Lord I will absolutely delete it. I do not want to hurt Gods feelings.
@Carazaa I understand. I didn't see the post, I don't think. It's obviously your call, but think about what I said.

Do not show yourself heated up because of the evildoers. Do not be envious of those doing unrighteousness. For like grass they will speedily wither, And like green new grass they will fade away. For evildoers themselves will be cut off, but those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. - Psalm 37:1, 2, 9
