Will grey fabric go well as a background for blue roses 🥀🦋? Ribbon embroidery 🤔

The velvet blue I have is too elastic for ribbon work. Ribbon work requires bit of pulling the needle. And that would shift away shapes.

@Jackaloftheazuresand I was thinking to use the dark blue to shade the flower. Inside of the flower dark going lighter as petals develop.
