Pablo Picasso had a blue period, and when I was in my late teens I began copying some of his blue period paintings, such as Leaning Harlequin, and the Absinthe Drinker for a neighbor of my parents, who wanted some paintings for her dining room.
I like the painting, above, because of that experience.
