Have you ever picked up a bunny? [I Animal Lover]

Did you use the ears or nuh
rckt148 · 61-69, M
I pick them up like a cat.
My first rabbit, we picked it up by the ears until one of it's ears wouldn't stand up on its own anymore ,leading us to believe that being told it was the normal way to handle them was not so .
I guess if you only raise them to eat ,it doesn't matter if it damages their ears ,
But if you actually care about how it should be treated ,I would advise against it .
My rabbit was not the only one with an ear that would just hang there ,
After I dislocated something in my rabbits eat ,we noticed a lot of rabbits the same way ..
I don't handle them that way anymore .

@SW-User you'll be fine .so was the rabbit ,it just couldn't raise one ear .
But it lived a long and healthy life otherwise .
We didn't raise them to eat .
It was intended as a pet ..
I still wish I hadn't believed that was the way to handle them ,,he looked kind of dorkey unable to lift both ears.
My kids still loved him .
I quit picking up rabbits that way .

@YMITheWayIM that rabbit is a Flemish giant. They are huge.

@YMITheWayIM yeah rabbits tend to be skittish.

If you aren’t careful they’ll scratch the crap out of you, their claws are very sharp and they probably don’t mean to hurt you but they are scared if you do it wrong. Probably bet to pick them up by the scruff until they get used to being handled.
No one’s ever picked me up by the ears no 😯
At least leave some hairs there for biological purposes 😓@SW-User

The bunny picked me up. I was so terrified that I had to convince the bunny that I'm not grass.
SW-User
I take it he put you down at some point 😅@Beatbox34

@SW-User Else I wouldn't be alive here to type the tale of my demise(almost).

I bribed him with grass and some carrots.
