Sounds cool. And, yes, it absolutely HAS to have a front panel.

I have fond memories of my Imsai.

Want to hear something sad? My first thought was: I would juat build the whole thing with a single chip -- emulate it. I need to give my head a shake.

My advice is too not do any of the above. Just go to the park and fly a kite. Or sunbathe

There are kits out there?, that's all my advice *laughs*.

@Alison I’m probably just going to have it boot into BASIC.
SW-User
@MethDozer That’s true. Maybe I can riff off a kit.

I kind of also want to have a hardware interface to manual set and read memory addresses like in the Altair 8800. That shit is AMAZING. I don’t really know how much work would have go into it or how much space it would take, though. It might not make sense for this project.

@SW-User Space isn't too much an issue if you use surface mount as much as possible.
Add racing stripes to make it go faster

This is going to be so exciting!!!!
😃

Are you going to leave it as a breadboard, or use perfboards, Print your traces🤤??????
SW-User
@MethDozer I don’t know. Leaving it on a bread board would be kind of awesome, I think I’d want something sturdier though. Perf board would be cool af too. I’ve always wanted to etch and drill my own board, so that is a possibility too. I don’t imagine I’d just pay to get the board professionally printed, but I wouldn’t be against it if it made more sense.

@SW-User @SW-User On something like that I'd probably end up doing both. Etching some of the smaller boards and send my drawings out on others. Do overs on from one little bad trace on bigger complex boards can be infuriating. That's just me sayin'.

@MethDozer & @SW-User you're the same person aren't you? 👀 😟
