This might not be popular, but in my opinion people who say it’s harder to make friends or find partners are the same people who make the least effort“I’m so lonely” Want to check out that new restaurant after work? “No my fish need feeding” Fine, die alone.
I wonder if the Red Bull Air Racing series will make a come back. Me and a few friends watched from a hire boat in Croatia a few years back and it was great.
It apparently takes around 100- 110 years for a disastrous horrid loss of life to become…a children’s ride. 😂I was at an event this month commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Dambusters raid. There’s a historical flypast, burgers, hotdogs and beers being sold, and kids playing on inflatable rides. Nice sunny day out. And as I stood there, beer in...See More »
Parents, at what age did you expose you children to social media? My wife and I don’t use social media with our kids around and we haven’t yet decided when we are going to let them delve into this.
Has anyone else found themselves loosing a friend to the heady mix of Christianity and firm luscious breasts?A mate of mine, Tommo has a reputation for being a bit of a rowdy lad, he likes the beer, he likes the ladies, he likes waking up in strange places on holidays and overseas postings. He’s recently with a new lass, Emily. She is very easy on the...See More »
In the USAF they give aircraft names like Raptor, Strike Eagle, Hornet and Warthog. But in the RAF we have a different approach these days:
Im so grateful to be generation X.It’s not just about being able to sit out and laugh at the Boomer vs Millennial arguments, although that’s a benefit. Being born when I was born means I was a child when cinema and toys started to do something new. Nintendo and Sega produced their...See More »
An SWer is giving me grief about being disrespectful to King Chaz as a ex military person. So let’s be clear:I didnt join the RAF because I get a chub on thinking of queen and country, I did it because it gave me an engineering career inaccessible to me on civvie street. And why the RAF? Well for one - in the army everyone gets shot at, in the navy if the...See More »
This time of year always remind me of when I was a boy dancing around May poles and country dancing on the village green. My dance partner was the prettiest girl in the village and the 1988 May queen. A pity I had to move away to boring new school and area where nothing was celebrated all summer.
If a music festival was held in your honour, what bands/acts would you pick to headline it?Mine would be Korn, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Rammstein, System of A Down and Disturbed. What’s your lineup?
Is Easter a public holiday in your country? It sounds like most of you were back at work today. We’ve just had a reasonably sunny 4 day weekend here in 🇬🇧
Now that fake photographs can be made this well, can you trust an online picture of anything in future?
How you present facts about yourself can vary widely depending on your mindset. Good, bad, uglyGood In school I raised £4K for a local blind girl to have her home adapted. I was a serving member of the military by the age of 18, in a serious relationship by 23, married by 28, a father by 32 and a home owner by the age of 35. The bad I’m...See More »
Just think, one day your country won’t exist anymore.I mean the land will be there, but the flag, and maybe the language will be something else.
A Roman temple discovered under Leicester cathedral. Pretty cool. Also confirms the belief that most of the Christian sites in Europe are appropriated pagan sites. People could have been singing and praying in these spaces for even longer than recorded history would have us believe....See More »
Do you ever accidentally mimic an accent you hear? Goerdie is a northern English accent. And whenever I hear it I unintentionally start speaking itIt’s probably because my Dads side of the family where Geordies before the military relocated him south where he met mum. But some people pick up accents that they have never encountered but it seems to sit well in their mind. How about you?
Did anyone else in the U.K. see the northern lights this week?I saw them when I was in Norway but I’ve never seen them this far south before. Absolutely beautiful.
Time for an “Around the fire chat”. Tell me if you have a tattoo with a meaning or story. I’ll start. I have a sword through a crown because I served my country. I have a dog sled from when I did that in the Finnish arctic. I’ve got wings from when I used fly gliders at weekends. And a hanging witch for a boss who told me at 17 I would...See More »
