@LordShadowfire I feel your pain. I went through the same thing with my wife, who died in this past May after a long decline. Every time I look at something or hear a sound, I'm reminded of her. I don't know if I will every get over her. She was the love of my life, having been married 38 years. Our grandson was a big help as he lived with us and still does. I have a daughter in another State with her own family and two beautiful young girls and a very loving husband and father to his kids. But it's just me and my grandson although I do have other relatives in different States. Right now I'm in good shape, although I was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. I may or may not need an operation since it is usually a slow-growing cancer and I could live five more years without a major problem. Chances are I will die from some other cause. I will know more by next weekend.

Based on your comments, I would suggest making funeral arrangements now, such as deciding on a funeral service and casket or cremation, and obituary and will. If your father has accounts in his name you will need a death certificate for each one or you won't be able to close them easily. It's best to take care of as many things as possible before he dies because it is a very stressful time. And then you will have to think about who will take care of you when your time comes.

I am so thankful that my wife died before me because she simply wouldn't have been able to cope with my death in her condition. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about ending it. I won't but the thought is always there, 24/7. I would e lost without y grandson.

Take care.

Thanks for the advice. My biggest concern is that I will inherit all of his debts.

@LordShadowfire That is why it is so important to have some good life insurance policies. Depending on his age and health it might be possible to get a policy that will cover all of the expenses. But you may not be able to get a high value policy. They can be spendy if you are older so it's a good idea to get a high value whole life policy when you are young. You can outlive a term policy, even if it's for 20 years, and by that time you could have health problems that will reduce what you can get.

You may want to review all of the financials and even talk to a lawyer about what you might be stuck with, if anything. It could be things like credit cards and cell phone bills. If you know beforehand you will have time to come up with a plan for how to handle it. Believe me, it can be a pain in the ass if you are not prepared.

I believe strongly in free speech. You’re stalking in reaching the criminal behavior level. I may have to report you. Please stop so it doesn’t affect your permanent record adversely.

It's not engaging in criminal behavior to publicly respond to someone who publicly makes false accusations against you.

Thanks for the raven. The gesture and the sentiment behind it made my day.

@SW-User Not sure what you're talking about, are you sure you have the right person? I'm not posting regularly anymore, kind of just got tired of it. I don't recall us going at it, but don't worry about upsetting me. In these types of discussions it's par for the course. I don't take it personally.

@BibleData He was talking to me. I took his good-natured name calling the wrong way for a bit.

Seeing each other as human beings? What a weird concept...
@LordShadowfire right? She’s brilliant. But more than just that, it’s her way to diffuse things and get people to ask the right questions. That’s how real change happens and we stop pushing each other to the fringe corners.
