I Love Reading Books

My grandparents taught me how to read around 4-5. I've always had a higher reading level and I love to read.

As a kid I read fantasy books featuring a strong heroine, like Talking to Dragons by Patricia C Wrede and Alanna by Tamora Pierce and the Blue Sword.

When I was 16 I started reading serious erotica. When I was a little younger I'd read my mom's romance novels. Pirates and forced brides ;)

And now ~ I love Mafia romance, Motorcycle club romance, Dark Romance, sometimes sweet romance, young adult sci-fi/fantasy. I also read health related books, books on bettering your finances, books for making a better home for the kidz, etc.

And lately, I've read a couple here and there of thrillers and supernatural (aka sexy vampires hehe).

Overall I just love to read.

I also like many different genres of books. Romamce and fantasybare like total escapism but I like learning things from books and onea that give me pause for thought too.

Sounds like there are lots of different genres within genres that I was unaware of! Some 'romance' is crap, but some is good.

yes. I'm actually kind of picky when it comes to romance. If there isn't some kind of emotional or physical explosion, I'm incredibly disappointed. I love angst.

I love 2end chance romances, especially with a secret baby hehe

I love it with some violence, it makes the romance seem more intense.

@darktippedrose: Sounds like youve read a lot more romance than me. One I particularly liked - I did like the characters, their connection and the build up but tbh I think the sx scenes were just brilliantly described! Another one I recently read, I liked, but that was more to do with the fantasy (/magical realism?) aspect of it. The ending just seemed to be 'lets just make this a quick predictable happily ever after though'.

There are so many on kindle for quite cheap and it's a big market so more room for rubbish ones!

What you say about a big emotional or physical connection - yes, I'd like that in a book too - maybe because Id like it in real life.

@amethyst1: I grew up on my mom's historical romance novels. All those "spears" tearing the heroines asunder hehe. They were basically my sex education.

As for sex scenes, I beg to differ. Some are good and some are just horrible. I don't like my imagination to do all the work.

But I've been reading romance for a while, so my standards are higher. I like alpha males, and alpha male sex.

@darktippedrose: Well I was just referring to one particular book regarding the sex scenes in it. Obviously not just any book containing them is good or to my taste!
