I'm confused why she is sending money back to the family if she is the heir chosen to handle it? Was the home paid for or is there an ongoing mortgage? Did the uncle have unpaid medical or other bills that went unpaid? There may be circumstances that you are not aware of and your aunt is doing the best she can. She might explain if you asked her outright. She may even need your help to do some of the repairs so it can be rented to better candidates that would take pride in their home.
