I think many of them have issues that prevent it, yes.

I think people everywhere have trouble knowing and bonding with their True Selves, and so, each other, especially in THIS world. The people who run the planet - those who control the economic machine - know that if people really knew who they were and knew how powerful they really are, they wouldn't be able to control them.

For me it mimicks real life i suppose. I have a couple of people i talk to regularly and everyone else i say hi to in public if i'm passing.
