I Am Inspired By Kind People

A few years ago, the Red Cross started a practice of telling people where their blood donations are sent. It first checks to see if there is a need in the local area, then offers the blood to other parts of the country in need.

Today I learned that my most recent donation went to two hospitals in Vermont.

I really like that the Red Cross does this follow up. It makes the human connection more tangible.
It would probably help with donations if other countries did that, too... I know that they can't breach patient confidentiality - but it may help to tell blood and organ donors the name of the county where their donations were used.

Well they tell you what hospital but not the patient right? I donate plasma and platelets but I do not know what patients it only has happened a few time they have called me to make sure I was coming to my appointment because it was needed for a certiant patient. Trust me your donate is used and never go to waste, Well blood can be frozen if not needed.Unfortunately my donation must be used within 7 days otherwise its no good for anyone. Well sorry not just my donations anyone you donates plasma I do not know the live of platelets.

@updown2020 Yes,they only tell the hospital, not the patient -- I assume for privacy reasons.
