I Am An Introvert

Today, there's an outing at my friends house today. Just a couple of people, having a braai(it's the same as having a BBQ). Now as an introvert, that's not a problem right. It's just a couple of people right? Well... Knowing my friend, there'll be quite a couple of new people. There always is. Meeting new people especially in large amounts, is a bit dreadful for introverts, because you know you have to deal with a lot of small talk. Like a lot of introverts I struggle with small talk. It drains me. I come out feeling so drained at these "events" that I'm contemplating on going. I haven't seen my friend in a while, but I just want to relax. However, I'd feel guilty for not going.

Well, we're pretty much the same. I just got home from a halloween party with my son, I didn't really want to go but I don't wanna come out rude because one of the parents in my son's school invited me.. On the way back we're in the same car and Im just quiet because Im already drained and tired by talking and meeting new people.. Its so so awkward! I hate being like this. But my mind controls my whole body. Cant do much anything about it

Yeah it really sucks, but I guess it's also good to put in an effort, especially if your friends know your circumstances.

Sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone can make you grow. But if it will really be a waste of time more than anything, maybe you should respect yourself more and say no when it's time to say no.

Or see your friend somewhere else, in another moment if what you want is to be with him and relax. Perhaps bringing another person you feel comfortable with. I'm guessing BBQ isn't the greatest thing for you to try, either :P

Lol, I love BBQ's, but only with people I'm comfortable with. We do normally hang out outside these BBQ's but it's been a while so... Only opportunity available. But thanks for the tip though. :)

I'm the same way. I used to get invited to these game nights and other outings by my friend, and every time I would go, there would be more people there then she said there would be, and there was always people who I didn't know. Made things awkward.
