I Am An Introvert

I like meeting people and interacting with them. But I hate social occasions because , I feel compelled to talk deeply with them but only get to talk to them superficially and that leaves me feeling guilty .

Maybe you're meeting them at the wrong places.
During a lecture break it's easy to get in a heated discussiong about the stuff just explained.

Or make use of what's in your surroundings and go into that deeply.
For example, I read a book about elevators a while ago, and while waiting a long time for the elevator to arrive, I explained to my roommate what algorithm elevators often use etc.

That's also how I feel sometimes. I usually prefer to talk about meaningful topics, rather than engage in small talk. The latter tends to make me feel a little uncomfortable, unless it's with someone I already know, and get along with, very well.

I hate the "small talk" that seems to be part and parcel of social occasions.

Same here. I just wish all those gatherings were put to good use, discussing serious and important things instead of talking about the weather and last year's Christmas.
