I Like Getting Messages

I'm not a fan of messaging. My perspective is biased but the fact that I am a happily married person , but since I'm not looking for relationship I would much rather have a public, interesting, lively group discussion than everyone coupling off in private messaging convos

I think both belong. There needs to be a balance sometimes I am looking for a real connection and sometimes I want a group discussion. Depends on my mood. Even still it seems odd there is no messaging at launch.

I agree. I like both. There are tons of things that I would love to discuss in an open forum, but there are also great reasons to have provate messaging, too... not just because of people looking for relationships.
