For FedEx deliveries, do I need to sign something? [I Ordered Something]

Update: I got my package, yay!
Wow, those are some interesting stories. Thank you all for your help and for sharing your stories. I thought they were cool but most importantly I hope that everyone got their packages and everyone will get theirs. :)
The deliverer didn’t knock OR ring my doorbell despite leaving a note out on the door. Lol
They put it in the center of the porch LOL. But it was cool they bought it and placed it there and everything is so cool how things process and that takes quite amount of time depending on what it is. Anyways, thank you all so much again, have a lovely day!

Hi, I ordered something online via a store but when my tracking site for FedEx says “Out for Delivery” and been on the FedEx truck since 5:34 am, how long do I need to wait? It is 7:49am and I woke up at 7:00am. I checked but nothing there yet. It says still “Out for Delivery”. I’m nervous. I checked online to see if I need to sign, so do I need to? I’m home so does that package require my signature at expected time when they drop it off to my door or do they just leave it there? I have school online at 8am that’s why I’m asking so when I hear a knock or doorbell, I know they are outside, and since I’m a young adult almost 19 years old, do they require my signature since I am really the person who ordered the item online? I paid for it via my VISA card. Do they require someone to sign my package item? I have a pen ready in my hand just IN CASE. Thank you all so sooo much for your help!

edit: Online sites say FedEx requires signature for every package they deliver. And they have more information on that. I’m on the timid side and am nervous if I need to talk. Plus, there is still COVID out there. I have my mask ready as well lol Hope I’m not overdoing it since Im nervous xD Yes it is my first time doing this

edit2: Is it alright if I am outside when my package arives? Will they ask me anything or name of person to sign? I’m almost 19 (still 18 this month) but is it okay if an adult (or considered adult by U.S standards) signs their own package thing?

I haven't had to sign for a fedex delivery in like 15 or 20 years. normally the company will let you know that you have to sign for it - but like I said, haven't had to in years.

you can leave a note on the door that says "Fedex please accept this as my signature for deliver if required" and put it at the door they normally make deliveries to.

Although like people are saying here - they drop and go. Now if it is like a replacement ATM/Credit card, legal documents they MIGHT require a signature

but regular orders of goods - nah

most of the time you'll hear the knock and a few seconds later the truck driving off.

@Pretzel So that means I’m good and don’t need to overthink or overreact in this situation while waiting for my package to arrive? Thanks so much!

@MangoMegalodon no worries - the first few are the most stressful.

we get stuff all the time because of amazon prime - you almost get to know they delivery people on a first name basis :)

They don't have you sign, as others have stated.

If you're tracking it and it still says "out for delivery" it means your package is still on the truck. As Mamapolo suggests, put a note on the door asking them to ring your doorbell when they deliver it so you know it's outside.

FYI, you might not get a delivery until the afternoon. It all depends upon the amount of packages and the driver's route. Only become concerned if it says "delivered" and the package isn't there.

@SW-User and I think they prioritize businesses over residential deliveries too - we normally get ours in the afternoon.
FedEx doesn't usually require a signature unless the package contains, say, liquor. Here they knock, leave the package and they're off.

If you want a signal, put a note on the door - Like, FedEx, please ring doorbell at delivery.

What time the delivery arrives depends on their delivery route in your neighborhood..
in the time of covid, they've become far less strict about a signature being required. signature is something that the sender has to opt for, it's an add on fee. normally only done on something that's considered high value. in the US that seems to be about the $1000 mark, but that's a sender's option. the tracking info should include any info about a signature being required, if there's nothing there, probably isn't. I'd expect fedex to leave it at your door. their timing and notifications really leave lots to be desired.

I've only had to sign for a package maybe twice in my life, and those were some expensive items my dad bought. Otherwise, it could be a while for it to be out for delivery. Most of the time it'll show up late afternoon to almost evening for me. Sometimes they won't get to me before their shift ends, and it goes back to the processing center for the night and goes out again the next day.

If you or the seller required a signature then they will knock on your door. If you don't answer they'll leave a slip and you'll have to pick it up at one of their locations. When I'm waiting for my package even if it says it was out for delivery at 5am I won't get it until like 2pm. They have a lot of deliveries and they might not be even close to where you are until later in the day.

They normally drop it at your door and go. They're busy and most people aren't home during the day.

@Crazywaterspring If I’m home during the day, will they ask for my signature? I am ready to give them one at any time but what else do I do than just give them my signature since I’m an adult according to my country’s laws? I am almost in my 20s still at the late 18 19 stage. But do they require my parents sign as well or do I just do that alone?
