I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings

It's amazing how "old" things are beginning to look from a 2017 perspective as time moves forward. This isn't something I noticed until recently, and it actually caught me by surprise when it dawned on me. What's most surprising is that you don't even have to go back that far in order to see how much things have truly changed, and are changing.

Of course, we all know that time is ever-changing and ever-evolving, but it only really hits home when you actually have a way of gauging it and seeing it for yourself, and you can do this by simply looking back at our technology and our social/cultural trends from 2002-2005 onwards and to see how "ancient" it now all feels. It isn't just that things are changing and progressing, but they're also beginning to show themselves in a different light from when we first experienced them. (I think that is the most mind-bending aspect about time itself; that things have the tendency of taking on different attributes and characteristics as we inspect them with different eyes...)

When we were all back in 2005, for instance, that particular year felt special to us, because it was the most immediate time we had; everything then was the latest, the greatest, and most cutting-edge, and it even felt that way to us. But 12 years on, here in 2017, that year feels more like a blip in time, as just a tiny stepping stone along the way. It no longer carries the same level of significance at all, because now 2017 is our most immediate time and everything we have now is the latest, the greatest, and most relevant.

I'm not sure if all this has occurred to me due to the changes within myself or the changes within the world at large. Or is it both? All I can truly say for certain is that I no longer see or experience time as I used to. When 2017 is neither more nor less significant than any other time or moment, we can see that human evolution is, was, and always will be perpetual, and providing that we can continue to sustain ourselves as a species, our evolution and our history will never have any fixed boundaries or characteristics at all, as things are just perpetually changing and moving all the time. The year 2030 will render 2017 obsolete, as 2050 will with every other year before it, and so on and so fourth, etc.

This realization is unbelievably profound when you allow it to really sink into your mind. It has a way of making me feel profoundly insignificant, and yet also significant as well.
