I Want to Be Healthy

I have PCOS. I've had surgery for a torn meniscus and a torn mcl ligament on both my knees. My left knee is starting to hurt a lot.

I am VERY overweight for my height. Even when I watch my weight, nothing happens. Regardless of exercise.

I try my best to do Fitness Blender exercises but I believe that its just not fit for my body. No matter how much I've tried to make it work. GRRRRRR.

I have to find an alternative to conventional gym exercises.

I also have LOTS of fatigue but sometimes I really need to stay awake. I am looking into some energy pills and possibly some diet supplements to help me because metformin isn't cutting it.

see now thats the thing. I rarely eat junk food. I don't drink soda and I'm still very overweight. No one believes that I eat a crap load of veggies. and if I don't have a small amount of animal protein, especially red meat from time to time, I get raging head aches.

but NO ONE believes me. ughhhhhh.

I just started taking hydroxycut and my energy is getting better. I still need a nap on the weekends to help me manage and stuff and do all my hard work during the week. but whatever.
Some times it still shows up normal ...ask your doc if he's doing all those tests at the bottom.

Why is hypothyroidism so under diagnosed in the USA?
Many symptoms of thyroid imbalance are vague and most doctors spend only a few minutes talking with patients to sort out the cause of their complaint.

Most conventional doctors use only one or two tests (TSH and T4) to screen for problems. They are not checking FT3, RT3 or thyroid antibodies.

Most conventional doctors use the ‘normal’ lab reference range as their guide only. Rather than listening to their patients’ symptoms, they use ‘optimal’ lab values and temperature as their guide.

Which lab tests are best to determine if you have a thyroid problem?
I check the below panel on each of my patients. Make sure your doctor does the same for you.

TSH
Free T4
Free T3
Reverse T3
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOAb)
Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb)

Hi Dark,
Notice that you have allot of "valid" excuse.
The underlying under the weight has to do with your mind conversations that you have with you. They are their and unnoticed by you. We call it self sabotage.
So till you look deeper, you will have so many valid excuse for your body weight and why it is so hard.

Green tea is great , it helps you burn calories and it lowers inflammation . Try eating more fiber foods too.

@Anneofgreen: I can't eat fruit. I'm mostly allergic. ughhhh. My favorite is actually blueberries - one of the few that I can have.

@darktippedrose: Blueberries are healthy and you should eat them daily if you don't eat anything else. Is your bloodd sugar high?
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
@Anneofgreen: I have no idea. I've never tested it.

hi, I sympathise with your situation, you say you are VERY overweight, and then say you don't eat junk, that may be so,eating a "normal" animal based diet, with dairy and butter eggs will cause you to become very overweight, as the average in usa is 30 lbs overweight....."the fat we eat is the fat we wear" that is why I suggested that "trying" doesn't ever work...you have to understand why you are very overweight...I was almost normal a long way back, I changed my PATTERN of eating, and I am slim now for quite a few years...I stopped eating ALL animal foods, dairy, eggs, all animal foods....I eat a low fat whole food plant based diet....it is the foods usually...check out a facebook group, "let food be they medicine" good luck

My knees have a similar ill as you. To get up and down stairs was a huge issue. Then .....I found the use of a FOAM ROLLER.
Now .... I can walk and walk, stairs are OK 2.
Look up on YouTube as how to use it. It hurts at first, use each day for at least 3/4 weeks and you will see a huge difference. You can roll the spine/limbs/legs
With your weight, read up on LOW GI foods. I have managed to keep off 44Lbs in 20 years. It can be done, it takes time and effort. No easy way out.....
Let go of SUGAR .....let go of junk and fast food. (soft drinks are the worst for you)
(Make 80% of your intake plant based.)

are you diabetic, is that why you take metformin...get into a low fat plant based diet/lifestyle as soon as possible...your metabolism will speed up and you will lose weight, then gradually get into some exercise, walking is a great start if you can, as the weight lessens and the junk foods disappear the inflammation will go also....you can walk, do some weights ....go slowly, depending first and formost on the low fat plant based diet/lifestyle...and good luck...
Maybe have your thyroid tested too..although I'm sure the doctor already did those tests.

a lot of people have mentioned vegetarianism a lot as the golden cure to pcos weight gain. I've heard it for years. and guess what - it made me gain weight, even more so and it makes me sick to my stomach. headaches out the A$$.

I don't eat lots of better. I have low fat yoghurt for breakfast sometimes. I have red meat from time to time. I eat eggs and chicken and shrimp when I can afford it.

I already eat a crapload of veggies.

many vegetarians eat too much junk and dairy...I can see you are not ready to make a meaningful change...a low fat whole food plant based diet/lifestyle is the way to terrific health, that means being 100% responsible for what you put in your mouth, for many, a heart attack or worse, is when they wake up...it is your choice, and I wish you good luck...bye

With veggies, try to avoid the frying that is needed to make a frittata.
Go for steaming or dry baking (Use olive oil or coconut, small amount)
Go for brown rice not white.
Use legumes such as lentils/chick peas so on.
Over the next week, keep a food diary, write the time and the food item.
If you want, then PM your food diary to me.

losing weight needs a definite plan, you say exercise "nothing happens" even when, which is an indication its not very often...I know it can be a long heartbreaking journey...with little success at the end....until you realise that losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise nothing will change much.....you cannot out exercise your diet....
darktippedrose · 36-40, F
I have pcos. yes you can lose weight, but it makes getting healthier just a bit trickier. not impossible.

I didn't make it up. I was diagnosed at the age of 15.

I'm not making excuses. I'm trying babysteps at a time.

I just started taking green tea supplements that help me with energy.

Its come back normal EVERY time.

besides the occasioinal ice cream, I don't consume sugar.

my dinner, maybe one cup or rice, plus an egg frittata (2 egg) with onions, yellow squash and zucchini and mushrooms.

this is usual

I have recorded my food. I sauteed my veggies, not fried them. white rice was the only bad thing I had had all day. I can't tolerate most beans and am allergic to most nuts.
