I Appreciate Planet Earth

April 22nd, Earth Day. So I am a day late....yesterday was earth day and I just felt the need to write something about it. I think its the spring air that is making me feel inspired. I live in the north country so we have had some not so pretty weather. Its snowed last week and it was below 30 degrees but today its almost 60 and days like this I just love being outdoors. I appreciate the little things in life like a nice sun shiny day, and today is one of those days! The other day I saw a facebook post that said...."Most of you think its April but its actually the 96th of January" yeah it sure felt like it. It was only 30 something that day and today its almost 60 degrees, and its said to be as high as 68 today. January is always the longest month of the year for us here in the north country, so that felt like a fitting post to share that day.

I always look forward to spring every year. Its my favorite time of year and today like yesterday was a beautiful day. We are finally getting some spring weather, we have been waiting for it. Its long overdue thats for sure. YaY spring is in the air, finally! Last week we had freezing rain and snow that turned to sleet, only in the north country we see that.

On days like today, I like to spend it outdoors and today I got steps put on my deck so I can finally enjoy the sunset on my porch while enjoying the beautiful weather that comes with it. Though I live in the north country, I am used to brittle cold winter days, it is spring that makes me come alive after such a long cold winter. I get inspired. The days are too nice to be stuck indoors. We have to enjoy the lovely days when we have it.

I love mother earth and all its natural beauty so I take pleasure in seeing the flowers bloom and hear the birds chirp in early morning. I enjoy seeing the sunset when its 50-60 degree weather. I enjoy the sunshine and seeing butterflies too. I like to open my curtains and let the sunlight in. Tomorrow I am getting a new bedroom window put in so I will be able to open it and let the nice spring breeze seep in. My new steps to my deck was put in this morning by that cute construction guy who I posted about before (the last time I came to SW). He's going to be in my bedroom tomorrow, even though he is only putting a window in, he is still cute even though he is taken. Darn, I wish he wasn't.

But about this beautiful earth I would like to share a link to how wondrous God's creation really is. Feel free to watch if your interested, I am sharing the link below.

In light of earth day I wanted to share some thoughts about how beautiful our planet earth really is. I cannot stand to see it being destroyed by man, but thats how our world works I guess. I know I cant change that, but I can at least do my part to treat it kindly. I appreciate the air I breathe (even though this world releases toxins to it each day). And as much as I hate winter, I take pleasure in watching snow fall. I always love a good rain storm too. Just hearing the sound of rain go pitter patter on the rooftop. When I was little my father used to have us sit on the porch during a thunder storm (because he thought that would help us to not be afraid of the storm while its thundering and lightning out). I came to appreciate the rain, and being little, jumping in the mud puddles after the rain, was always fun as a kid. The most pleasing thing to the eye though is seeing a beautiful rainbow after the rain.
I appreciate the weather and the climate that changes from day to day. Mother nature can be so beautiful, but messy too. Its destructive and fierce but yet beautiful all at the very same time.

I haven't quite figured out yet what is the most beautiful in all the earth, but I do favor the butterfly. As each one is different, and unique, just as a single snow flake is too. Even one ripple in the ocean, is different from another. Each flower that grows from the earth is uniquely different, as are we. No two persons are the same. We are all different in our own ways and that is what makes us stand alone from anyone else. Even the trees in the forest have different branches and leaves that grow from it, no two leaves from the same branch are alike. That is the beauty of our wonderful earth. All created by God, all of God's creation is beauty in itself. I am often in awe of how beautiful our world is. From the highest mountain tops to the bottom of the sea, there is beauty in it all.

The link that I am sharing below is a documentary film from 2009 and its called God of Wonder. I have seen this a few times and its the most beautiful documentary I have ever watched. I enjoy documentary films and I came across this video on youtube once while searching for God. When I went to youtube I just searched about God and came across this film. I deeply enjoyed it, its very well documented and a beautiful resource to turn too when learning about earth and all of its creation.

Even though yesterday April 22nd was earth day, I like to think that everyday is earth day because if it wasn't for earth and all of its beauty we wouldn't have joy and pleasure in seeing the sky and the sun and the moon and the stars. The nature that surrounds us is in everyday beauty, we just have to open our eyes too it. I don't like to take it for granted, because I know there are others who don't get that pleasure. I work with the elderly, and take care of someone who is blind, so she cannot see the beautiful sky that is above us, she cannot see how pretty a flower is, she does not know colors because she was born blind. When I think about that, I remind myself not to take for granted the blessing that the good Lord above has provided me. I appreciate each day, when I wake and open my eyes, it brings me joy to see the sunshine and how pretty the sky is when the sun goes down. At dusk I look up to the stars and I thank God for giving the pleasure to enjoy the littlest things in life. Nature is a beautiful thing and so is this wonderful place we call earth. Its our dwelling place while we walk this earth, who knows what we will see when we leave this world. I can only imagine what glorious presence we will see when go to the other side of life. Life is not just about living, but its about relishing in the moments that we have here and appreciating that, particularly in the littlest things.

These are just my thoughts so I felt like sharing it with you. Thanks for reading and God Bless.
