I Love Railways

My nearest station is Pontarddulais. There are five trains a day. Just one coach. It is a country line. It takes hours to get anywhere. In summer you can hardly see the rails. They are so overgrown. And the train slows to 5kph to go through farm yards. And level crossings we stop so the guard can stop the traffic. And we cross and wait for the guard to let the traffic go and get on board again. It takes all day to get to Shrewsbury.

Always wanted to visit Wales and all around the U.K. .Eons ago as a kid i recall all of the roads crossing the rails had gates which had to be lowered and raised manually then they were of course eventually automated.

Yes We don’t even have gates. The guard uses a red flag to stop the traffic. Traffic! The occasional car or tractor! @luv2fly352
