Sad Poetry... Before You Died
Sorry, this is so long. It's about my dad starving himself to death.
" I LOST U DAD, BEFORE YOU DIED
You just gave up, u would not try"
The long hallway I walked in gloom,
Which led me to your dreaded room.
The moans the groans, the old folks smell.
This was like a living Hell.
I begged and begged and pleaded still.
I'd kiss your cheek, in hopes you'd heal.
"Please eat, please drink, don't give up hope".
each day I'd say, but you'd say "nope".
One day you asked "can I come home?"
That broke my heart, my soul was gone.
The months went by and still you sat.
No food no drink, when I would ask.
"I won't sit here and watch you die"
I said to him, which was a lie.
Of course I'd stay, while he was there.
In hopes he'd eat he'd drink he'd care.
Day in day out, I'd come I'd go.
I watched his boring western shows.
My thoughts would wander, now and then.
"I know we have family and friends.
But no-one showed. I don't know why.
No one came up to say goodbye.
Each day the light drew from his eyes.
I'd sit I'd rock and then I'd cry.
One day you looked and saw me there.
"I love you dad. You know I care?"
He smiled as much as he could do.
I hugged him tight. That's when I knew.
Next morning I heard that dreaded ring.
My Dad had passed , he's in no pain.
"I LOST YOU DAD, BEFORE YOU DIED
Your memories are now inside."
