I Think Psychiatric Drugs Are Over-prescribed

I can't believe people are so quick to just blindly follow doctor's orders and jump right on board to start taking psychiatric drugs. Do you know how insane it is to me that people are willing to alter their brain chemistry before exhausting other options. Like nutrition and coping skills.

Yes some people need meds, but psych meds terrify me

You are absolutely right. On top of this pharmaceutical companies pay provision to doctors for prescribing their drugs to patients. It's a huge business and human health is secondary. Same goes for chemo teraphy. Doctors in some countries are not allowed to offer you any other treatment then chemo and the take a cut from every perscription. Insane

All so people can appear to be "normal" when all normal gets you is a crappy job, debt, and a broken heart.

I was forcibly injected with haldol when I was 19. It was about six months before the side effects wore off. I basically became manic, insomnia, restless leg sydrome. I'm just grateful it wasn't permanent, some people aren't so lucky

Totally agree. This goes for all meds and prescriptions AND diagnosis's too. Some act as if Doctors are Gods when they are just flawed humans practicing on other humans.

I never take meds in general. Last time I took medication, I was prescribed three things.

1) antibacterial - with a side effect of inflammation
2) anti-inflammatory- to counteract above which apparently creates stomach issues
3) antacid- because of anti inflammatory pills.

I think my psychiatrist is a narcissist who just wants to dope me up and have me be miserable
