I Love Music So Much

AND NOW,Mr Bob Dylan

A frustrated screenwriter who was working on a screen adaptation of a Scot Fitzgerald novel once threw up his hands and said,"Oh it all sounds great on paper but try making dialogue out of it........!!!!!

The comparison of Dylan to Fitzgerald may sem wrongheaded and obtuse but

You’ve been with the professors
And they’ve all liked your looks
With great lawyers you have
Discussed lepers and crooks
You’ve been through all of
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s books
You’re very well read
It’s well known

It was on the eve of Gulf War One ,and a group of friends were in New York to see Dylan. The news was full of reports about how Saddams sons, Huey, Dewey, and Louie would put Caligula to shame, and all kinds of weird rumors of how terror attacks might be coming.

Dylan had taken the stage and was singing the words to one song while the band played the tune of another which as I learned later was not that unusual. It was intermission and some rogue managed to slip in through the fire door. A Keystone Kops chase ensued and the fellow raced up the empty aisle in front of us and dropped his valise....

"I wonder whats in the bag",said my friend Gerry
"Could be a BOMB" someone else added. We looked again, though the valise wasn't taking ..or ticking.
We never found out as Bob and the band returned and finished the show.

Somehow nothing about Bob is ever ordinary,it's well known..A song can of course be enjoyed simply on it's own merits, but did you ever wonder what certain lyrics could possibly mean?Specifically:

If your mem’ry serves you well
I was goin’ to confiscate your lace
And wrap it up in a sailor’s knot
And hide it in your case
If I knew for sure that it was yours . . .
But it was oh so hard to tell
But you knew that we would meet again
If your mem’ry serves you well
This wheel’s on fire
Rolling down the road
Best notify my next of kin
This wheel shall explode!

Theres a "famous rock critic" who claims it's a reference to Ezekial,I'll pass on that. Congrats on your Nobel Prize in Literature,Bob!!

@bookerdana which Canadian version?
bookerdana · M
Wheels On Fire ... Garth Hudson also recorded a new studio version, with Neil Young on lead vocal and The Sadies as back-up band for his 2010 all-Canadian compilation, Garth Hudson Presents a Canadian Celebration of The Band
@bookerdana Cool! 😊

I have worked with Garth Hudson, and it was like being in the Twilight Zone.
bookerdana · M
@uncalled4 Do you mean in a good way..? Seems like a coolguy
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bookerdana Not a bad guy, just bizarre working habits..

I think Hudson was a classically trained musician and his family wasn't thrilled to have him "throw that away" to be in The Band..😜
I think many rock artists are a bit weird, the lifestyle aloneis strange
