@Rachely3 I’ve always felt that the first switching is one thing, but the SECOND one - and every one after...when you know just how badly it’s going to sting, and that there’s absolutely nothing you can do to prevent it from happening...that’s the one that truly begins to “educate”....

When properly administered, switchings can have a very powerful “deterrent effect”...one that can last long after the culprit is able to sit comfortably again..:

Disciple which is listed in the title may include items like spankings but it may also include many years things that have no physical form ...

The simale act of telling a child that they should not do something other to stop doing something is discipline.. .. ..

The kids are all grown now, but when their friends stayed over for any length of time, including sleepovers, I always explained to their parents that I spanked to correct bad behavior and to deter a repeat, and to get their permission to do so. 90% readily agreed, probably because they already knew me well. The kids I had to ban from my house were in the 10% group because of their disobedience, disrespect, and/or defiance.

@Zsuzsanna1 Not really something I want to detail in public. Basically I believe any punishment that's hard, painful, uncomfortable or humiliating and doesn't cause permanent harm is acceptable.

@Zsuzsanna1 This limit is ABSOLUTELY essential and needs to be "fleshed" out very carefully and precisely. Permanent is forever.

That's great .. .. I did the same while raising my kids but not so much now ... I will never understand why respect and discipline moved from all responsible adults to only your parents ...
