@Blodyn i know, it was funny... and i commend you on choosing to guard lives in the water. very noble profession!

@pentacorn It's just in the pool in college!

@Blodyn that's good enough. people can drown in college pool water just as well as the ocean.

@pentacorn I know. They employ students to be lifeguards but we have to pass the test first and it's quite a lot of training!

@Blodyn i know... i had a bf who was a lifeguard at our college. you have to be able to tow people who are panicking, or maybe a lot larger than yourself. you have to take authority, and stop people misbehaving. it's serious stuff.

@pentacorn I know. It's how we train. Like we have to swim a length in less than 20 seconds and then instruct the casualty without them being able to reach us and grab us and tow them and put them in a position of safety. And we have to rescue a manikin from the bottom of the pool and if we don't we fail!

@Blodyn well, i wish you very good luck in your training and hope you pass your final exam with flying colors! :)

@pentacorn I wish I had that feeling! It's a hard exam. Lots to fail on!

@Blodyn you'll be in the zone. muscle memory will take over, and your head will be calm and focused. you can do it! you [i]will[/i] do it.

@pentacorn I hope so. It's rescuing from the floor of the pool. If I miss that it's a fail. And the length in under 20 seconds. I'm ok with the rest of it. I'm bossy enough to make the casualty behave!

@pentacorn Practice is so important. I shall be at the pool every day. Actually it's amazing how my times have come back after four months of lockdown . In the last year I been locked down nine months.

@Blodyn it's been a rough past year, right? well, you've got a lot to look forward to... it's literally all before you. i hope it's great!

@pentacorn I so hope we never have a pandemic again. Well I suppose we will. The Spanish flu was the same almost exactly 100 years ago. And cholera before that. And the Black Death. They didn't have lock downs. We have much to be thankful for. The scientists who worked round the clock to make vaccines. Praise God for giving them the wisdom.

@Blodyn you said it! we live in fortunate times. life is precious. i think of all the people who perished because of covid. things could definitely be worse for all of us survivors. so grateful to be alive and kicking! :)

@pentacorn Yes life is the most precious thing we have. I won't even kill a fly because it is one of God's creatures. I escort them out the house though!

@Blodyn you sound almost Buddhist, actually. that's a very peaceful way to deal with flies. you're a good one!

@pentacorn I'm not Buddhist. I catch them in a cup when they land on a window or something and slide an envelope over it and take them to the back door and release them. A boy at school has a gift of encouraging them to leave the classroom. It's amazing
