I Have Anxiety

Tomorrow, I'm going out for a drink with a couple of people from work. Probably seems like nothing for a lot of people, but it's pretty terrifying for me. I usually make excuses and haven't done this sort of thing for a good few years.My mind is currently running me through everything that could go wrong/I could do wrong,mostly "they probably invited you because they felt sorry for you/they're going to laugh at you", but I'm determined to do it. I might even have fun...XD

I understand you and you don't know how much. Just reading your post my level of anxiety increases.
Ok. The best is to have always a way out in case you can't face the anxiety.
I mean, get ready a good story to quit the appointment. It doesn't mean that you will quit. Go step by step. Only focus on one step each time. For example, get ready to go. When you get this step, focus on the following...that is, reach your frontdoor...always taking in mind that you can give a step back if necessary. And so on.

I normaly when I'm in an appointment, if I feel a lot of anxiety or have a bad moment, I take a while to go to the bathroom or to pretend I have to make a phone call...just to do deep breath exercises.

Think that if they invited you, it's because they like you and want to share with them. I know your firsr fear is to disappoint them. Try to be yourself as much as you can. I know anxiety doesn't help in this point but the more you face to this fear, the more you will be able to get rid of it.

@twistermind: thanks so much, sometimes I need reminding that it's ok to take things one step at a time. I know I'll feel great after because I've faced my fears, so I'll focus on that as well :)

@instagramcat: Good luck, dear.
I would like to know how it was if you want to update the post.

@twistermind: I will let you know how it goes :) thanks again

Well, I went. It was frankly embarrassing, one girl got way too drunk and started shouting swear words and racist slang around etc etc, couldn't handle her drink. I was SO bored, but at least I don't have to do that for another six months!

Try reading The Heart of Happiness by The Dali Lamai. It might not appear to be...but could help.

Haha, I'd be terrified tbh

@Invisible: I want to stop being so terrified of social situations, and this might be the way to try and feel better about it all.
