I Am Married

Marriage is a heaven unless one tries one's best to make it a hell.

Since am deep into the process of finding a girl for my kid bro and saw your latest post on the same subject. So, here is an interestingly painful blog that you sure would enjoy and sigh for both - the writer & me.

It has been 12 days (I did intend to start writing this blog 15 days back🙂 ) since my parents posted my advertisement on Shaadi.com and the Indian daily, Times of India. Both are registered to my mom’s email address which she sincerely forwards with one of the following comments –

Can try
Good – Should try
Don’t even think about trying
Ask Photo
I do not know
Other comments – Aunt’s acquaintance, your sister’s friend’s sister, etc.
The emails normally have the following –

Shaadi.com – profileName has accepted your interest or shown interest in you. So, you log into the site and check the girl, her profile and pictures. A lot of them don’t have pictures, so you need to request one or ask for password. You check her height, weight, complexion, etc. and some tit-bits of personality (which all seem the same – music, travel, reading, tennis, cooking, etc.) and then either short list for the next round or Deny the interest. Horoscopes match seems to be already done by the website, or people tend to skip the step here.
Times of India – This is a little different, since parents (mostly girl’s dad) send either the profile (strangely formatted in a Word document) with or without pictures of the girls. Some of them send just the profile to get a profile in return. This process has an additional step of making sure that the horoscopes match. This does correspond to e-harmony’s multi-point match but with respect to stars and planet’s positions where and when you were born. I will revisit this process later.
Once they are short listed, my parents would send the birth date and places of the girl to our astrologer to match horoscopes. For the record, my parents never got their own horoscope matched!

Once all is done, the parents meet/talk and then once convinced, they email the email address of the girl that gets forwarded to me.

So, it is plain and simple process as follows –

Profile selection by parents
Profile selection by me
Horoscope match
Parents meet or just talk
Then I get to email the girl
For the record the first 12 days, I got almost 150 emails/interests. It is a great way of boosting your ego.[/quote]

@SW-User 😅 The blogger wrote it in 2009. Hopefully he is safe and not regretting the process, if at all he got to find a better half.
