I Like Old School Rock and Metal

[big]Lost Metal Pioneers Vol. IV: Heavier Yet[/big]
(Dedicated to @DarkHeaven & @NudasPriest)
As everyone knows, the most defining characteristic about metal is that it's HEAVY! While many of the songs featured in this series helped pioneer metal in some way, not all of them have been heavy. This post, however, will be all about featuring more heavier songs that would play a part in giving metal what it's famous for.

Dust - "Love Me Hard"

This group became a historical interest to collectors of early American heavy metal, especially with this track which is undoubtedly their heaviest with its head-knocking riff.

Jerusalem - "Hooded Eagle"

Dark, heavy and with powerful vocals. Similar in style to NWOBHM bands and perhaps an early progenitor to power metal.

Bang - "The Queen"

This group was known for taking a page out of Black Sabbath's chapter and became one of the major forerunners for doom metal.

Granicus - "You're In America"

This band achieved some acclaim during their time but unfortunately, they would vanish for decades. But not before releasing their debut, known for its glass-shattering vocals and early politically charged metal.

Pinnacle - "Assassin"

Stars out with a menacing bluesy shuffle before shifting to a faster and erratic proto-speed metal frenzy.

Truth and Janey - "No Rest For The Wicked"

This band never made it terribly far, but they helped keep a foot in the door for developing heavy metal during a time when metal was entering a decline before it would ultimately change drastically.
