@bhatjc that is "do as I say, not as I did", right? There is no misrepresentation in the opinion that the skirts are too short. A lie would be...saying the skirt in the picture is yellow, that it is below the knee, that it has big paisley patterns on it, etc. Or saying, "I [mother] never wore skirts that short."

What I assume you would prefer--and prob @UniGirl19, too--is that her mom would have acknowledged that she used to wear such skirts, and then say why she now thinks that.
