"Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable." Sydney J. Harris

If if and buts were cherries and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas :)

The French would say "with ifs you can put Paris in a bottle"

I try to live without regrets. That doesn't mean I haven't made mistakes, and there are certainly things I've done and said I'm not proud of doing or saying. However, I think everything, especially the hard lessons, is an opprtuinity to learn and grow.
diablesse · 56-60, F
I know you do and I try to as well. But the author's got a point there, it is much harder not to regret the what ifs than it is not to regret things we have done.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
That's true, but I try not to dwell on that. There are certain what ifs that are harder to ignore than others, though, but in general, I usually focus on the now. I think it's healthier that way.
diablesse · 56-60, F
It is healthier and you have the right attitude.
Livingwell · 61-69, M
Exactly. I have a few of those. 😊

This is great. Thank you.

The "what ifs" are haunting
diablesse · 56-60, F
Yes, they can be.

If you do not regret the things you've done, that means you aren't worthy of forgiveness, which means you're doomed. I will tend to regretting the things I did wrong.
