I Want to Take Off My Shoes and Socks

I do when I return to my boarding house after lessons. We have to leave outdoor shoes at the door and I take off my socks too so I don't slip. We have old polished oak floorboards in the common areas which are wonderful to walk on in bare feet. They are warm and smooth and worn down by thousands of girls running back and forth over the decades! In quieter moments I like to sit on the top step of the old staircase and think of those who have done the same before me 😌
