I Am Getting Older

Some random facts I agree with that I found on the big-ol’ inter web.

-What used to be a big deal no longer is

-A majority of relationships are based on how much value you provide others

-You keep in touch with less people over time and you start to evaluate the strength of each friendship you currently have

-Luxury and material possessions start to feel less valuable and don’t bring long-term happiness

-It isn’t all about the grades you got in school but about who you know

-Your close friends will let you down multiple times and most of them will come back around, some may not

-Money isn’t everything but you find more reasons why it has such a profound affect on one’s life

-Spontaneous adventures and “letting go” don’t feel as appealing compared to when you were younger

-Dating and pursuing love can be easy for some and hard for others but it will always feel complex for everyone

-You become better at coping with rejection

-More of your peers start to settle down in relationships and tighten their social circles

-You understand why the cosmetic/beauty/fashion industry is so profitable (aging happens sooner than you think)

-Binge drinking and getting “wasted” isn’t as cool and fun as it used to be in college

-Who and how many people you sleep with doesn’t have as much allure as it used to

-There is so much ambiguity with modern dating

-Racism and prejudice still exists and you realize how much it plays into urban development

-Beauty and attractiveness makes a difference in how one is treated and it’s because of biological attraction

-The theory of “survival of the fittest” becomes more evident

-Privileged kids definitely have an advantage in life over non-privileged kids

-The more time you spend caring about what others think about you the more you feel lost

-You get to see your friends and family’s true colors more clearly than ever before

-You can’t get away with unhealthy eating the way you used to and it catches up real fast

-Hangovers and recovery from a long night out feels way more intense than it ever has

-Crowded clubs and bars have much less appeal, especially if you aren’t single

-Making plans with friends takes more effort

-Having your own place is way better than having roommates

-Sometimes the people you trust most will turn their back on you and not show an ounce of guilt

-Marketing is an extremely powerful tool and it all plays on human behavior/primal instinct

-There is always someone bigger and better than you no matter how hard you try

-The corporate world is all about money and providing value but people still forget

-Being able to travel around the world is a luxury and everyone wants to be a part of it

-The idea of starting your own business now seems more daunting and less appealing than it used to

-You develop more confidence in your self-worth at work which translates to higher salary expectations

-There is no point in bringing up politics, it’s all about perspective + opinion but drives emotion and anger

-There really is no quick fix to maintaining a healthy lifestyle or losing weight and then keeping it off

-You will tell yourself things you wish you did when younger but realize that it does no good to dwell

-Nothing causes more issues and tension than money and love

-Time becomes more precious as the pressure that comes with career advancement, marriage, staying healthy, financial stability and societal expectations start to feel heavier

-Just when you thought you knew, something happens taking you right back to the drawing board

-There are people that will stop at nothing to advance themselves, even if it means hurting others

-No matter how much people try to downplay it, everyone wants to feel important and meaningful

-Trying to impress others gets exhausting and you start to care less about doing so

-Life is short and staying positive no matter what is the way to go

I agree with all but #8. The older I get, the more I seek out spontaneous adventure.
