I Have Watched a Sunrise
Night in the White
by: Rob Paquin
Moonlit mountainside
Iced over trails
Dark forest dwelling
Such an unnatural feel
An elation of senses
Another memory spawned
Hike to the top
To view the oncoming dawn
But inside those dark stretches
Along those abandoned trails
A feeling like windsongs
Puts a breeze to my sails
The darkness not empty
I can hear the breath of the trees
A chill air to the nighttime
That puts me at ease
The dawn makes it's way.
A grayish light it's stern warning
To finish the hike
Witness the birth of the morning
With a few last long strides
I ascend to the height
The sun breaks over the horizon
And vanquished the night
The brilliance is stunning
A view grander than grand
My soul now uplifted
My next hike all but planned.
