I Am Bored So I Will Write A Online Diary

Diary of a Covid-19 Madman - Part 2
by Valentine

Day 5: 24 March 2020 (continued)

Some heartening things happening though. Companies switching manufacturing as best they can to medical supplies - gel, ventilators etc etc. Key workers on the front line. Most peeps are doing what they can. Even the drug barons have gone into lock-down. Or so they say.

Walks in the countryside (we are allowed 1-per-day) are odd. I can understand why we all cross over to the other side when we meet someone, and make sure you don't inadvertently sneeze or cough; but why you can no longer smile or say 'hello', I'm not really sure. Perhaps I should cover up that grim reaper tattoo I have on my forehead.

Anyway, enough of this naval gazing. Let's make a nice cup of tea. It's the British thing to do.

Take care, y'all.

====================================================================================Day 6: 25 March 2020

The days begin to merge. Is it Monday, Wednesday, February, March? Occasionally losing track. The family are making various WhatsApp groups and playing virtual games galore. Jokes and funnies are being shared. Mostly at the expense of Charles and Donald. All manner of DIY projects are happening, including my own snug floor; I was worried the guy wouldn't be able to come fit it, due the lock-down - it appears he is allowed so long as he distances himself while in the house. Well, he's got lids and family, so happy to go to extremes on this, for everyone's sake.

Work is getting precious now. Financial stability teetering, like so many others. Heads are being put together though, which is encouraging. Banks will need to extend significant loans; I wonder if there will be a government underwriting scheme for these, similar to propping up the banks in 2009. Contracts have been turned upside down, not really written for such circumstances. So, common sense has to prevail with good collaborative dialogue. More government schemes being announced by the half day. It's like money grows on trees.

Still no mention of Covid in Ambridge. Perhaps they're deliberately doing a Covid free zone.

More tomorrow.

Day 7: 26 March 2020

Clap for Carers happened at 8pm. So many peeps, standing on front door steps, clapping loudly. Saying thank you to the selfless carers. The true front line key workers.

Wrote a letter to my sister-in-law, who is quietly slipping away with Covid-19. Stopped eating, hardly drinking. Inevitable news on its way?

Just about to watch Question Time at its rearranged prime-time slot of 8pm

I had a load of groceries I didn't order put on the floor outside my door today, and had to shout through the door at the delivery woman, who couldn't find my neighbor's apartment.

I did think to ask her what store is delivering groceries now...and it is MY store. So I've spent the last hour ordering groceries...only to be told, at checkout, at the very end of all that, that there are no delivery dates available and I have to check back with them every single morning. Ha. Ha.

I use live journal that I rarely record my life on because I'm lazy and the UI seems too old and overwhelming now.

@assemblingaknob I just love typing on a keyboard. The words just flow. Perhaps cr*p, but the words just flow. Poetry is my favourite, when the muse is with me 😊

I'm gonna enjoy some chamomile x lemon grass tea soon. Happy slurping!

@assemblingaknob Warm-hot drinks apparently help fend off this nasty virus

@Valentine Well, some fresh ginger and oregano may :) Otherwise I doubt being British helps 😂

it does kill off some bugs in the mouth and wash them down into the tummy where your digestive juices kill them off if they're still alive, allegedly :) @Khenpal1
