I Support Women's Rights

SO I learned a new word today.. slut walks.. lol there see i admit i dont know everything :P So I am trying to learn..

This came about following a discussion re two women's pics both using the word slut and the implication was that somehow this showed that feminism wasnt working.. Leaving that aside I tried to explain how women, even though we have come a long way, and even though younger gens, male and female tend to believe we HAVE equality, so there's no need for all that feminism stuff.. We actually do NOT have equality or anywhere near it...

I mentioned things like pay gap where women doing the same job still have a long way to go re closing the gap between what men are paid and women are paid.. I mentioned the difficulty whereby most childcare falls to women, which is fine if they are happy to do that but there exist unbelievable difficulties where the woman tries to return to work when it comes to childcare during sickness, school holidays, working late etc... and that if a woman takes time out to have kids this counts against her too and often she ends up in low paid part time work..

I didn't mention how even tho many young people believe, certainly in the UK, that we are all now nicely equal.. things like assaults against women, rape, and domestic abuse are on the increase and sadly this is even more common among younger people.. where it seems that many have been hit by their boyfriend etc.. and that it's almost considered normal..

Yea i am OLD but I was around when things were very different -I saw the suffering and injustice... i see that there's still a way to go.. and worse i see worrying trends that we are back tracking..
