I'm veggie but I keep wondering about going fully vegan. Mum already is, My biggest problem is cheese. I've tried vegan cheese and I think it sucks, Any tips? :)
I tried to be a vegetarian after my bird died but I am a runner I can't afford to give up lean protein like fish and red meat, I only gave up poultry. Always look out for your health when you are giving up something.
@JBird Completely agree with that. What works for one doesn't work for another. Although I'm not a vegan, I'm a big fan of genetic nutrition profiling. If a person's genetics suggest it'd be really difficult for them to be vegan, they shouldn't try to force the issue.
I’ve been full vegan for a while now. Mostly for health and environmental purposes. For cheese substitutes I’ve made my own creamy cheese sauces from soaked cashews and nutritional yeast
The artificial foods ARE horrible. I think it's better to eat small quantities of what you like, and be satisfied with that.
As far as going totally vegan, I don't know. I think there are definite advantages to being vegetarian, but I think it's okay to eat honey. I really don't think the bees care, so long as we're not destroying their homes to get it.
@jackieash Yes, so much of what's okay to eat as a vegan is debatable. Personally, I think it's okay to eat honey so long as it doesn't hurt the bees. But the food industry wouldn't care. It angers and saddens me that it's so cruel to animals - 😡😭 - and that the dollar has become more valuable than life, itself. I feel so out of place in this world.
It helps me so much to encounter a caring person. Thank you for your compassion toward animals. 🤗
It sounds to me that you are a vegetarian as a dietary choice. I think the Vegans have a deeper philosophical objection to animal exploitation. Personally I like my dairy and soy doesn't make the grade.
@Maturebate I've heard of people who transition between animal food and drink to vegetarianism then veganism. I use non-animal based cleaning products and toiletries, and don't get me started on the use of animals in alleged sport!I suppose what I'm asking is an alternative to cheese, I already have non dairy milk
@Bluesky52 I know several vegetarians and vegans who say their health and fitness improved massively after stopping meat. I've no reason to doubt them.
@YukikoAmagi How do I "go back to steak" when I've always been vegetarian? Have you any useful tips? What do you suggest to get me to STOP eating cheese? How did YOU do it?
