I Live In the Usa

USA is fabulous in many ways, its for the strong and self sufficient.

What needs to happen for people to be happier in USA in my opinion is

1. better infrastructure, better planned communities where people live where they shop, play, and work, so there is more a sense of community.
2. Better mass transit systems
3. great housing for the homeless, not just shelters
4. Walkable towns where cars are limited so its nice and quiet and people exercise outside more.
5. 5 week summer paid vacations for everyone and 2 weeks to observe Jesus Birthday ha ha!
6. One payor healthsystem for all that's free
7. One year off, 6 months for each parent, to bond with a newborn with full pay because the first year is the most important year for a child.
8.A loving police department that walks and get to know their precinct by talking to everyone to build trust and accountability, not fear and hatred. And a justice system that is kind, and rehabilitative instead of punitive (which doesn't work)
9. rehabilitation for workers instead of being fired
10. A flexible work schedule for working parents. And not force people to work more than 40 hrs. just because they are salaried.
What do you think?

Thank you for sharing your beliefs and insight. If only there was a clear answer. I agree with some of your ideas. A better sense of community and what it means to unite together and support one another is so essential, once had and now long gone. Fearing police is so problematic and involved police who build relationships within their community can make such a difference. #9 I would add for addicted to drugs or who have been in prison. Inmates who are released and truly want to better their lives are often faced with so many hardships that it almost sets them up for failure, especially those in smaller communities. Mandated meetings that are only offered during the day, or travel restrictions as well as a record (which is on the individual) can make it so hard to find work and then they relapse and are right back into their old ways. I also wish what you say about parents having more time off to bond with child could be a reality, as well as better homes for the homeless. But, we now live in a time where people take such advantage of anything offered to them that it ruins it. I could see more people having children etc just to not have to work as often. I am a strong believer in universal health care for all. This is America, people should not still have to struggle so much when it comes to health care.

Thank you for thinking this through !@lovelychicadee

Sounds downright socialist! Fantastic to see, just a shame it will probably never happen. It seems that some people in the US equate any socialist concept with communism. What you have proposed makes a lot of sense.

I am praying!@Bushranger

You can force people to work over their contracted hours?? 😯
Neoerectus · M
@Quizzical Unions in most states were gutted, so things got worse
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Neoerectus I'm starting to have second thoughts about moving over there, lol

Unions prevent abuse!

It sounds great, but my first thought is, how do we pay for it?
Carazaa · F
I respect that. I just think that we need to take care of our own before we spend for bombs because this country is highly addicted to opiates for a reason. People are miserable, compare to European countries who have more support for the communities. and more rehabilitation. We can also close the prisons here because they aren't helping at all just making worse criminals, punishment doesn't work.@Zoeoz

@Carazaa I agree with many of your goals, with the exception of single-payer healthcare, and believe that an important factor in realizing those goals must be higher taxes (in addition to less spending in other areas) 😊
Carazaa · F
I don't mind spending taxes to help our country. I am not selfish.@Zoeoz

@SW-User I completely agree... All that matters is the almighty dollar :(

Number 7 in highly exploitable and sounds socialist.

We don't need to pay for so many bombs!@SW-User

That’s not a logical response to the topic at hand. @Carazaa
