I Struggle With Addiction

I’ve had a bad alcohol and Xanax addiction for years I’ve been so hush about xans even when I was on the site before I never mentioned them. I’m a week clean today from pills. I’d abuse others when I wasn’t able to find them but I really enjoyed Xanax. I would always drink too much get drunk and make mistake that destroyed my life on so many occasions.

One step at a time today a week and before you know it a month then a yr and then ten yrs it's hard but don't give up even if you stumble and fall. Get back up and try again. You can say that because I stumbled a few times along my journey to stop using alcohol and now with cigarettes, I been sober for ten yrs now I believe. And just started trying to give up the smokes but I can say I'm proud of you even though I don't know you because you are trying.

@SW-User your doing a great job, I basically lost my family members except for a sister that thought enough about me to try and help me get my life back together again. I believe I have for the most part. My family still has doubts about me but that's ok I was a alcoholic for alot years and can't expect them to change right away either. I thing I would do is when the thought crossed my mind to drink I would tell myself no I don't need it, it needs me and it ain't getting me again. Sounds silly I know but it worked for me. Never give up on what you want keep up the good work

@SW-User that good you must avoid the triggers that make you want to do those things, my trigger was everything I wanted to drink when something bad happened when good happened or when nothing happened because I was bored.

I'm glad you been clean for a week. I am here if you ever need somebody to talk to about this stuff. I have relatives who are recovered addicts. Well one died like 10 years ago from something else, the other ones are still alive and doing very well now. One of them is a drug counselor and gets people help with drug addictions. Gets them off drugs.

You obviously have severe anxiety that you are trying to alleviate. Do you know the root of it?

@SW-User I'm sorry to read that. I have serious anxiety too. Dealing with it is hard work but it can be managed. Do you see a doctor for it and take medications?

i have Alcohol addiction as well. I can drink through out every day without passing out anymore
