I Love Meaningful Conversations

I enjoy talking to a variety of people. While I realize small talk can be necessary to build a foundation for a meaningful conversation, I always feel the urge to skip past that part of the conversation. I always want to rush into the more interesting topics, the deeper things. Were you ever bullied? Have you ever been a bully? Why do you react the way you do? What motivates you? What are your goals, your life ambitions?
I guess I just want to get to know people, not just skim along the surface of the person for hours as we go through the motions of small talk.

Yeah, as a teenager I would get bored with conversations at college because it was all small talk. Later I was counselling people and every conversation was deep. When that stopped, I missed someone walking up to me and immediately telling me things so deep they had tears in their eyes.
I was also in depression, isolated. So I learnt how to meet people in small talk and banter. Now i'm probably an outgoing introvert, but quite capable of talking about the deepest things without any discomfort.
@Abstraction about the same for me. Except I spoke to a very select few in college. I think an "outgoing introvert" is a great way to put it. I never knew how to describe myself to people.
hehe I love testing the waters with people to see what we can talk about :) the big stuff is the most exciting to talk about! i really want to know the core of people!
@MadamMartha that's exactly what I mean! (: you put it much better than I did.
