What kind of medication is the drug olanzapine use for?

My Psychiatrist prescribe me a medication called olanzapine
Sweet517 · 51-55, F
Olanzaprine is the generic form of Zyprexa. It's an antipsychotic. It's typically used for psychotic disorders including schizophrenia and as an augmenting agent in Bipolar disorder. I'm surprised your doctor didn't tell you about the Meds. You can always ask him or the pharmacist if you have questions.

@Sweet517: I just started my first dose today I take the pill once a day for bipolar I think. But it's on low dose so how long does it take to start feel side effects

Side effects or results? Again, this is a question for your doctor. If you are delusional, manic, irritable, experiencing Halllucinations, ideas of reference, etc. it should help pretty quickly. I don't know your symptoms or your diagnosis. Are you bipolar I or II? Are you currently manic, depressed, rapid cycling or hypomanic? I guess the answer is-- it depends.
