What is the worst physical pain you have ever endured?

Mine was passing a kidney stone. Unimaginable pain for four days.

My neighbor had kidney stones so bad they had to open him up to remove them. He lost about 40 pounds and thought he was going to die. Apple cider vinegar is supposed to dissolve them.

@cherokeepatti: Got it , T Y Sweets . 🕊

@Paschar: I started drinking cranberry juice regularly after that kidney stone. No recurrence and it's been nearly 40 years.

@Serenitree: My problem with cranberry juice is that it's a diuretic and I have to pee about every two hours anyway!

kidney stone Unimaginable pain for two weeks .
Serenitree · F
Two weeks. Yikes. Four days was more than enough for me. It made me change my eating and drinking habits.

@OWTFWN: I know what you are saying. Back in the late 1970s, I worked at a suicide prevention hotline for several years. I spoke to many young people, mostly men, who were victims of that dammed war. Not to say that any war isn't bad, but it was the victims of the Vietnam war that I heard from. The pain they were in, was unlike anything most people here could possibly comprehend. The things they saw, and had to do, just to survive, were unimaginable. No matter how they described it, I could sympathize, but couldn't imagine the reality. Nor would I want to. I wouldn't want to share their nightmares.

The rejection they faced from their countrymen, upon returning home, was, it seems, the final blow that killed, if not their bodies, certainly their spirits.

I had an abscessed tooth that was pure agony for a few days. I've been pretty lucky, but it gave me a ton of sympathy for people that live in intense pain everyday.

@IstillmissEP: yes. I begged to have someone just kill me and get it done.

Labor + Back Labor, I've heard passing a kidney stone could be compared to that.
Serenitree · F
I've had four kids. The last two with zero anesthesia. Back labour for one of them. None compared to the pain of passing one tiny kidney stone the size of a grain of sand.

It was indescribable agony and it went on for four days. I wanted to die. And when it was all over, I didn't have that warm soft bundle of love to make me forget the pain. All I had was residual pain and a very sore throats and severe laryngitis.

[c=#BF0080]Labor. I had a kidney stone last month and it definitely felt like the beginning stages of labor.[/c]
@Serenitree: [c=#BF0080]Oh wow. Mine was only 3 cm.. was yours bigger?[/c]
Serenitree · F
@pinkrainbowkisses: smaller. A grain of sand. But it wouldn't come through without getting stuck. Every time my kidney needed to empty, the stone blocked the opening and I felt like an icepick was being stabbed into my kidney. I hoped I would die.

@pinkrainbowkisses: did you mean 3 mm? 3 cm is huge. Like a golf ball.

I had a root canal go wrong and every now and then it would get abscessed. One night I went to the emergency room. I think they thought I was a big wimp, walking up to the desk and saying "I have a toothache," but I was ready to die. The final verdict on it was that the dentist didn't get all of the nerve out.
Peppa · 31-35, F
Aww that's really painful. And I see so many patients come to us due to this. I work in a urgent dental care unit and it's surprising how many people come in due to a root canal flaring up. They're unpredictable despite what the dentist does. Sometimes the infection is so bad it can still cause agony after
Bashing my pinky open. Then pulling out my nail.

I fell off my bike once, injured myself in several places. It was the first time I had cried from pain since I was a little kid.

I've also had really bad intestinal cramps before that were so painful it was causing me to sweat.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
I thought I knew what pain was having been hurt before but I did not know what pain was till the compound fracture, nothing worse than that kind of deep bone pain.
Serenitree · F
I now the deep bone pain of which you speak. It is true agony. Enough to wish they'd amputate and be done with it.

I've been lucky and never suffered bad pain, apart from stepping on Lego in bare feet!
Serenitree · F
Legos do hurt. I have cursed them often.
