A few fingernails have changed color (grayish) and some weird vertical grooves have developed. Along with that the skin around my nails is tearing, so

I'm under the impression that I have a vitamin deficiency of some kind. What kinds of vitamin deficiencies are related to fingers/fingernails?

Possibly vitamin E, or Vitamin D, Iron and Calcium too. Unfortunately there are a lot of vitamins that could be. I would suggest getting blood work done they can tell you where you might be lacking.

actually, i had some blood work done. here are my red flag areas:
- cholesterol a couple points out of healthy range
- blood sugar "high risk"
- iron low (especially folate)
- kidney function (needs more water and protein)

Oh Iron deficiency could truly be it. Do they have you taking an iron supplement?
