Small surgery numbing medication

Has anyone ever had numbing medication for small surgical procedures that when it's injected, it feels like fire going through your body. That happened to me. It never has before.

Just when the doctor jabbed me with the needle...I almost jumped to the roof!😱He said it shouldn't have hurt that bad, but it did?! I see this was posted a while ago, glad you're okay now. Love the name change! 😜💓🌙

It might just be that the medication burns a little, but I know if you push saline fluid too fast through a line, it'll burn like hell (don't make nurses angry). Maybe there's a similar effect with anesthesia agents.

[c=#BF0080]Sounds like maybe an allergy, my whole body felt that during a CT scan and the allergist couldn’t believe the nurse didn’t realize it was an allergy to the contrast. Another time they put the iodine on me before a c-section, I was screaming and wasn’t before in full blown labor 🤣 It burned so bad I thought they started something before knocking me out 🤭

I do hope you’re feeling better and that you aren’t in any pain. [/c]

Nudistsue26 · 31-35, F
Yes for a stye. Worst pain I've been in. Almost jumped out of the chair
Nudistsue26 · 31-35, F
@TexChik needle in your eye lid. It was the numbing stuff that stung and hurt.
TexChik · F
@Nudistsue26 it would have been about the same to have lanced it without anything
Nudistsue26 · 31-35, F
@TexChik probably less pain

Some medications will make you feel like that, but often it's the rate at which they're administered. Nurses, when they don't really care for the patient, have been known to push fluids very quickly which burns like hell. Others, of course, just aren't paying attention.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Graylight I've also heard that, but, they were very kind to me and gentle. They gave me a warning, but, I still made a few noises!!
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Indy74 Good to know. I only learned the inside info after being on the wrong end of it -- which I deserved.

Some medications simply burn a little bit, but luckily it seems to be the numbing kind, so it's momentary. Hope all turned out well.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Graylight it did thank you my friend. You don't deserve to be treated like that period.🤗
Had a biopsy of a spot on my nose.

Unbelievable amount of pain as they injected the "painkiller" before cutting off a slice for the lab.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Threepio wow! Yeah, that's it.
@Indy74 FWIW: The MOHS surgery later wasn't as bad (or as painful) as that biopsy painkiller was....
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Threepio that stuff should be taken off the shelf!!
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
Hmmmm. No I’ve never experienced that. 😳

Love the new profile picture though.
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
@Indy74 that’s why I love it so much! 😄
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Ambroseguy80 thank you. It's about time I step out of the shadows.

@Indy74 couldn’t agree more!

Yes, omf! A couple of years ago, when I had a mole removed from my thigh, omfg! It was crazy![image]
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@SW-User damn girl. Just like me, but a huge knot on my inner thigh.
SW-User
@Indy74 I felt dumb, because it actually hurt omgoodness!
TexChik · F
You mean local anesthetic? Where did they inject you?
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@TexChik they injected me in my left inner thigh.
TexChik · F
@Indy74 Zowie and hit a nerve! Yikes. I have had my knee drianed a couple of times. OUCH!
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@TexChik oh wow!!😖
curiosi · 61-69, F
You shouldn't be getting that, it might be you are or are becoming allergic to it.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@curiosi I never thought of that. Thanks for saying something.
Moonpenny · F
I've only had that with heparin.
