My parents are both alcoholics, albeit more functional now. I remember when Mom used to be really bad. My brother and I do drugs too. I was inspired to try them because of my parents, I think, can't exactly remember. Trying nicotine got me into that world.

My Father was an alcoholic the whole time I knew him. He died aged 67 from Cirrhosis of the liver.
My oldest brother was an alcoholic and obtained brain damage through excessive alcohol and died age 30.
I started drinking at age 12 and was an alcoholic by age 16.
Having my own income from age 15 saw me in the pub everyday after work until closing time.
Extreme alcoholism saw me with Cirrhosis at age 32 though it still took me 15 years to stop drinking

@Gusman Wow. And did you or anyone in the family get abused by them?
Gusman · 61-69, M
@jlsdjfhasdljfhasdfa I was abused by my Father for years when my Mother left.
That is why I started drinking at 12. To get myself into my own little cocoon and block out all the crap that was happening.
I slept in my Fathers bed for 5 years after Mom left so I was able to steal money from his wallet that he kept under the pillow.

My ex wife is a lush, found out after she left me that she liked her heroin as well.

NativeOregonian · 51-55
@jlsdjfhasdljfhasdfa Last time I talked to her was in 2002, I have no idea, she left me in '99.

Was he sexually abusing you or just physical/emotional and verbal?
@Gusman I can only imagine.....I wish all the abused kids get justice, help and someone to save them from their abuser.. .🙏

@Gusman I am glad you have made it thru and are a stronger person. You give voice to those who do not have. Do you think alcohol should be banned?
Gusman · 61-69, M
@jlsdjfhasdljfhasdfa No. Some people are susceptible, that is all it is.
I am not one who believes in punishing everyone because of a few.

@jlsdjfhasdljfhasdfa Its my son-in-law. The the divorce is in progress. My daughter told him...your family or the alcohol...not both. So after 2 visits to rehab, he chose the alcohol
jlsdjfhasdljfhasdfa · 41-45, M
