Do you have experience using Turmeric?

I was going to make a juice infusion with Apple, lemon, Ginger and Turmeric but I seem to have lost the fresh turmeric. The closest store only has it in powdered form at the spice isle and I was wondering if that was the same thing, health wise?
Spices lose something as soon as they are picked - and more when they are ground - but ground turmeric still has benefits.

According to people who talk like they know, fresh turmeric is more easily absorbed and used by the body, but ground turmeric is better than none.

I buy the powder capsules at Costco. A couple of pills per day, when I'm not using for cooking. Careful, Tumeric stains are kind of permanent. I use it in Tajeen and North African recipes.

It's the same thing. If you were feeling ambitious you could take the fresh turmeric and dry it yourself in a low oven then grind it in a coffee grinder.

The powder will work just fine. Health wise, it contains all the same healing, antiseptic, and antioxidant properties.
