Are women more sensitive to chronic pain than men?

There are speculations that some diseases causing chronic pain or having chronic pain as a symptom are related to vitamin D deficiency. Which, for some reason (or quite a few), is more popular among women. So, if anything, women are more used to chronic pain.

@SW-User A female friend of mine works in retail for 10 years now, and also at the cash register (on occasions), whilst I do only job in retail besides studying, for two weeks now and never at the cash register. I did develop back aches, but in contrast to her I don't take painkillers.

@scooogy That means nothing, though. It could be another man that would not be able to tolerate pain the same way you do. Also, there are back aches and there are back aches !! How do you know you're experiencing the same thing?

@scooogy good for you.
FYI you can’t compare pain from one person to the next. It’s not universal.

My understanding is that, in general, women tolerate pain better than men.

Only to some origins of it and less to other ones, most frequent in men.
