My dog bit me today.

I was just brushing him and suddenly he bit my hand. I've got two puncture wounds and my doctor just gave me Vantin and an antibiotic cream. Is that enough? Shouldn't I get shots too? My doctor said that there's nothing to worry about and shots were unnecessary. Any thoughts? What should I do?

Here you would get a quarantine order to ensure the dog does not have a disease. I'd keep him under observation regardless. I also agree with @TexChik that you need to nip the nipping in the bud.

Has your dog been vaccinated? If so there's no worries. In some way shape or form you did something they didn't like.

Just watch it and see if it becomes infected. I doubt anything would become serious dogs mouths are cleaner than ours.

If your dog is vetted and had his shots and you are getting the right medical care you shouldn't need shots.

@TeresaRudolph71 she just didn’t seem right ... but I made sure she understood who the alpha was . She turned out to be the sweetest dog

@TexChik That's great. I've heard that dogs need to know who is in charge, and some will challenge you more than others.

Maybe your dog is injured.. The only time one of my dogs ever bit me was after i tried to move him when he got hit by a car..
